Add each firearm once. Only the type is strictly required — everything else can be filled in now or later.
Manufacturer and calibre are chosen from built-in lists, with an 'Other' option that lets you type your own where the list does not cover it. Barrel length and twist rate are useful for ballistics but are not needed to save the firearm.
Mark one firearm as primary and it is offered first whenever you record equipment elsewhere in the app.
You can edit a firearm at any time, and archive it when it leaves the safe. Archiving hides it from your lists; the equipment snapshots already recorded against past hunts are untouched.
A firearm on its own does not produce a firing solution. It sits at the start of a short chain: Firearm → Setup → Load → Ballistic Profile. See 'Setups, loads and zeroes' for what each one holds.
